Budapest, Sarajevo, Nottingham & Hitchin a busy weekend ahead for the Club…

This weekend our Men’s 1st team are in Budapest, our U18’s in Sarajevo, Our Women's team in Nottingham & our U16’s in Hitchin, busy fun times ahead..

From Thursday, 13 of our Men’s 1st team will be travelling to Budapest for the inaugural Budapest Water Polo Cup.

The tournament is being organised by 3x time Olympian and European Champion Balázs Vincze.

The competition will be played at the Laky Karoly Swimming pool in Budapest.
Our team has been placed in Grp B alongside Hungarian sides Sportliget, UVSE, ELTE, ASI II & ASI BP.

The tournament starts on Friday, and we will start against Sportliget before playing ASI BP later that afternoon.

The competition continues Saturday with more group games and finishes on Sunday with the semi-finals & finals taking place.

This tournament is in preparation for Watford’s first ever season in BWPL Division 1, starting at the end of September.

Our Men’s 1st team will be coached this weekend by Adam Page with Steve Chambers & Ali Taylor as Team Managers.

Our team for the Budapest Water Polo Cup will be:
Karan Basu (GK), Camaron Baker, Josh Brown, Gellert, Jack Pickford, John Pickford, Adam Heywood, Josh Pender, Sam Carling, Zac Corcoran, Peter Pickford, Matt Williams, George Sadler.

Sarajevo trip..
On Saturday, a 14-man U18’s squad will be travelling to Sarajevo, Bosnia for four days of training and matches in preparation for the upcoming National Junior Conference.

Our U18’s nicknamed The Wolves will be one of six sides competing for the Invictum cup alongside hosts Invictum, fellow Bosnian sides Torpedo and Borac Banja Luka, Croatian team Galeb Makarska and Austrians ASV Vienna.

Filled with inspiration from the all Balkan Olympic final, the 14 strong squad will stay in the centre of historic Sarajevo and the players will return with rich experience in European Water Polo.

Our U18’s team will be coached by Paul Dix with Edi Brkovic & Jim Crompton as Team Managers.

Our team for the Invictum Cup will be:
Anthony Barrett (GK), IIija Crompton, Dusan Crompton, Bertie Dix, Ryan Cubitt, Joe Vesztrocy, Luca Roberts, Bailey Sapsed, Samuel Wood, Owen Dorrington, Gethin Dorrington, Dinil Rodrigo, Rishi Patel, Niko Obradovic.

Nottingham Trip..
Also this weekend our Women’s team travel to Nottingham to play two training matches against the GB U20’s & U18’s squads.

The matches against the two GB squads over the weekend will help the team with preparations for the forthcoming BWPL Div Two, it’s the first time our Ladies have been in this division and they will start their campaign on the 21st Sept with games against Exeter & Penguin Emperors at Habs Boys School.

Our Women’s team this weekend will be coached by Andy Holt with Nicola Page & Leigh Pender as Team Managers.

Our team for the Weekend will be:
Chelsea Karimazondo (GK), Eve Barnes, Mackenzie Holt, Anna Kiss, Anna Lord, Laura Page, Kirsten Pender, Lottie Winstanley, Sabrina Radzik-Rahman.

Hitchin Tournament..
On Saturday evening our U16’s travel to Hitchin for the annual 2008+ tournament as holders of the trophy from 2023 the team will be looking to win back-back titles.

With five teams entered, Watford will start their campaign against Colchester before taking on local side Hitchin, then Cambridge before finishing the round-robin event against Northampton.

The team will need to win all their matches if they are to win the title for a second season in a row. Our Men’s 1st team player Josh Barrett will coach the side with Olga Cara as Team Manager.

Our team for the tournament will be:
Keeyan Shah (GK), Nils Cars, Sheyan Gohil, Ambre Gournay, Malek Graeber, Maija Cara, Luca Avellini, Naayan Patel, Dylan Patel, Ishaan Vekaria, Chenuthi Wijegunawardene.
