A busy weekend ahead with Polo in Three locations for four teams Plus East Region Training at Habs Boys School…

The weekend begins at Habs Boys on Saturday morning as the East Region have their monthly training session.

This weekend’s ER trials are for players born 2006 with a Boys and Girls squad of 13 being selected for the forthcoming U16 Inter-Regional Championships to be held in Liverpool for the Girls over the weekend of the 25/26th June and for the Boys at Millfield over the weekend of the 2/3rd July.

Following the East trials, two Watford teams will make the long trip to the Sandford Lido in Cheltenham for Saturday afternoon’s invitation tournament for our 2008 & 2010 age groups.

For our 2008 team they have a six-team round-robin competition with teams for Andover, Bristol, Exeter, Sutton & Cheam & hosts Cheltenham all taking part.

The format of the competition will see each side play the other with two points being awarded to the winners and one point for a draw, the winner of the tournament will be the team that gathers the most points.

For our 2010 age group they have three matches against a Cheltenham 2010 team, the games will be split over the course of the 2008 tournament.

The current weather forecast is predicting for light cloud and a gentle breeze, hopefully the Sun will make an appearance at some point in the afternoon and make playing in the Lido an even better experience.

On to Sunday Lunchtime and our 2010 age group team make the trip to Whitgift School in Croydon for their second round of matches in this season’s Summer London League Div Two.

Having played three matches already back in early May when the team lost to both Beckenham & Croydon by the same scoreline of 8-5 the team did record a win against Ealing who failed to show up.

This weekend the team play another four games against Chelmsford, Croydon, WL Penguin Latymer B and Ealing.

With the team are now starting to understand what is required to win a game of polo and having put in a good performance in round one and with some of the team having played at Cheltenham the previous day, it is hoped the team can pick up at least their first London League Summer Div Two victory.

On to Sunday afternoon and the attention switches to QE Boys School for the first round of London League U15’s competition.

This season our U15’s are drawn in Division One alongside teams from Beckenham, Northampton, WL Penguin Latymer A & Worthing.

On Sunday the team has four games, one against each side so hopefully we can get off to a good start with some wins under our belt.
