Games against Sutton are always tight affairs and our opening Winter League Div One match against our South London rivals proved no different.
In a cagey opening first quarter it was Watford that took the lead early via a man-up situation as Cameron Baker took advantage, Sutton hit back to level with a man-up advantage of their own and the quarter finished 1-1.
Into the second period and a quick goal from Captain Tom Kelly and another man-up advantage goal from Jack Warman had Watford leading 3-1 with just over four minutes to play until half-time.
Sutton responded to reduce the deficit 30 seconds later but another Watford goal from some more Sutton poor discipline gave Matt Williams the chance to restore his teams two goal advantage at 4-2 but with only a minute to play in the first half a major foul gave Sutton the chance to score again and they did for a 4-3 half time score line.
Into the third period and in the early exchanges both sides moved the score on to 6-5 with the Watford goals coming via Skipper Kelly & Fin Parnell and then with only 31 seconds remaining in the period Watford hit two more goals with the last coming with only 01 seconds remaining to establish an 8-5 lead. The last two goals came via Arish Patel & Jared Baker.
The final period saw only one goal scored by the visitors as Watford managed the game and saw out the period to win their opening Winter League Div One match 8-6.
