Seven teams will compete in this year’s Championships with four teams from Hungary – University of Pecs, University of Debrecen, Corvinus University of Budapest & Budapest Business School. Alongside these four teams will be Delft University of Technology from The Netherlands & two teams from England, Bristol University & Oxford…
The Oxford squad for this year’s competition will be: Jakob Timmermann, Rushil Shah, Bence Tanko-Bartais, Jack Sun (Captain), Ben Griffin, Kit Gallagher, Alexander Christie, Matthew Schaffel, Michael Hampshire, Kevin Tsai, Finlay Harris & Alex Wallop.
The Oxford team will be led by Coach Colin Gasper.
The format for this year’s competition is yet to be decided but with only seven teams taking part a round-robin event is the most likely option with the team that wins the most games crowned European University Champions.
Rushil began Water Polo while at QE Boys School in Barnet and joined Watford in 2016 at the age of 14. He played for the club until moving to Oxford in 2020 and continued to play for the University during his time at Oxford.
With University studies now over a career in Consulting beckons and a return to the club to play for the Men’s senior teams is something he is keen to do once settled back home and in work.
The Club wishes Rushil & the Oxford team all the best at this year’s Championships. An update on progress will be provided once the competition is underway.
