Last Saturday evening we took a team of 13 players to Letchworth Lido to defend the Herts KO Cup.
With seven teams entered the team managed to win five and draw one to retain the Cup for a second season in a row.
We started our defence of the Cup against Bedford and were winning 3-2 but a late goal from the Bedfordshire team tied the game at 3-3.
Our second game of the evening was against Cambridge which resulted in a comfortable 4-0 win.
Next was hosts Hitchin who we beat in a closer game than it should have been 3-2.
Our fourth game of the evening was against Enfield who had won their previous three games so it was a crunch fixture and a win for Watford would put them in a strong position. An early two goal lead was halved soon after for 2-1 but late goals from Adam Page & Matt Williams gave us the win at 4-1.
Our fifth game of the evening was against Dunstable who struggled against our press and quick break-aways as we won the game 6-2.
Our final game of the evening was against Spalding and with only one point separating the top three teams before the last round of matches, either Watford, Enfield & Bedford could win the Trophy, so we needed a win to guarantee victory.
IN the end a comfortable 5-1 victory was achieved and the Herts KO Cup trophy was coming back to Watford for a second year.
